We get shy because we are afraid, afraid of talking in front of people, and we get afraid when we feel like we are in danger, it can be the danger of getting criticized from people or maybe being rejected! but you got to know that there’s nothing to be afraid from, and people’s opinion should not matter.

However fear is essential to survive, because it tells us to run from that danger in the right time and that’s good, because if you weren’t afraid of the future you wouldn’t work to make it the best you can have, so be cool with it and see it as a blessing but you use it right!
I used to be shy and I used to pray to not be shy anymore, I’m not saying that those prayers were in vain, but what I’m saying is that you can’t stay there praying without taking action to overcome it, don’t wait for a miracle to happen, you’re the one who’s going to create it.

I was shy until I had to give presentations for my studies, there I knew that I can’t run away anymore and I need to face my problem even if it was after 20 years of complexes, so I changed my mind and started to think that what I have right now is exactly what I deserve, because it is what I’ve worked for, and if I want something better, then I need to work for it!

so here’s my problem, I’m too shy! and I blush a lot, so what can I do to get over my shyness?

1- communicate more: your fear from people is nothing but an illusion, you may fear their reaction, but really they can’t do you any harm!

2- Think out loud: it’s not a sort of madness, it’s really healthy to do so, try to think out loud, that’s so comforting and it helps to organize ideas in your mind, so you’ll eliminate the negative ones and cherish the positive ones, you’ll understand yourself better and you’ll have a real conversation as if you’re talking with someone else, except that that one you’re talking to is the best one who can understand you and give you a chance to express yourself.

3- Talk in front of the mirror: that way you’ll get used to be in front of people and you’ll get used to talk to people, it’s a great way to beat the fear of public speaking, and I use it for rehearsing my presentations.

4- Express yourself: when you’re with people try to express yourself, not just stay aside and listen, that way you’ll get much comfortable to be with people and you’ll get used to have conversations.

5- Understand that the world is not focused on you: we tend to exaggerate things but it’s really not the way it seem to be like, people aren’t really focused on you, so feel free to express yourself.

6- Be patient and practice: this is a work that comes with habits so don’t give up on yourself, and keep trying.

We weren’t born shy, we get shy as long as we grow, and it’s not a matter of age to get ride of this shyness, you need to get ride of it by yourself, so change your mind and believe that you can! it wasn’t really hard for me but I don’t want you to wait for something to push you to do it, decide to do it by choice! then life will get much easier. <3
